Last term our senior students took part in EPro8 – a problem solving challenge promoting science, engineering and teamwork skills. The students had a great time working together on an activity to build a structure using the materials provided.
We had a fantastic turn out this week at a Special Mass celebrating Grandparents and important older family members/friends. After mass, the children invited their Grandparents/family to look around their classes, and have a cup of tea in the hall. Over the past couple of weeks selected students from Yr 3-6 competed in the Catholic Schools Cross Country and the Remuera Zone Cross Country. Well done to all our runners.
Despite a late start due to the weather, all our Year 5 & 6 students took part in Hockey, Netball or Soccer for the Winter Interschool’s competition. The children had a very enjoyable day and it was fantastic to see them participate with such enthusiasm. Our Mt Carmel children are great sports!
On Thursday, we had Ken Brown come into school to talk about bees. Ken is the President of the Auckland Beekeepers Club and his knowledge about bees is vast. Our annual School Cross Country was held on Wednesday last week in glorious weather conditions. We had a great turn out of spectators and supporters on the side lines cheering the runners to the finish line. Well done to everyone who took part and to the winning runners.
Last Friday in honour of the Paris Olympics 2024 Mt Carmel held its own mini-Olympics on the school grounds in the afternoon Children dressed in their house colours and rotated around 4 activities. House captains did a great job running the activities and it was a great way to get into the Olympic spirit
Last term the new entrants celebrated their first 100 days of school. The junior school had a mufti day with the theme of ‘dress up as someone who looks 100 years old’. On 2nd July Mt Carmel held a very successful art show. Using an international theme every class took inspiration from a part of the world that they had been studying.
