2024 Interschool Cross Country
Over the past couple of weeks selected students from Yr 3-6 competed in the Catholic Schools Cross Country and the Remuera Zone Cross Country. Well done to all our runners.

Despite a late start due to the weather, all our Year 5 & 6 students took part in Hockey, Netball or Soccer for the Winter Interschool’s competition. The children had a very enjoyable day and it was fantastic to see them participate with such enthusiasm. Our Mt Carmel children are great sports!
On Thursday, we had Ken Brown come into school to talk about bees. Ken is the President of the Auckland Beekeepers Club and his knowledge about bees is vast. Our annual School Cross Country was held on Wednesday last week in glorious weather conditions. We had a great turn out of spectators and supporters on the side lines cheering the runners to the finish line. Well done to everyone who took part and to the winning runners.
Last Friday in honour of the Paris Olympics 2024 Mt Carmel held its own mini-Olympics on the school grounds in the afternoon Children dressed in their house colours and rotated around 4 activities. House captains did a great job running the activities and it was a great way to get into the Olympic spirit
Last term the new entrants celebrated their first 100 days of school. The junior school had a mufti day with the theme of ‘dress up as someone who looks 100 years old’. We celebrated International week at Mt Carmel with a variety of activities during the week culminating with a fantastic cultural day on Friday. Everyone was encouraged to wear their cultural dress and we were treated to a feast of Filippino food by the lovey Filippino parents in our school.
Tui and Takahe had a lovely trip to Te Tuhi Art Gallery in Pakuranga. This gallery provides interactive, hands-on learning experiences in the art studio and a tour of Te Tuhi’s current exhibitions.
