Celebrated annually around the globe, Pink Shirt Day aims to create schools, workplaces and communities where all people feel safe, valued and respected. Our hard-working PTA organised a fun day with a serious message for our children last Friday. We even had a visit from the pink-shirted police!
Our students always love a visit from ‘Science in a Van’. On this occasion our junior school were treated to a session on Bubbles, while our senior students enjoyed experiencing ‘Sound’.

On the first day of school this year we welcomed 22 new children to Mt Carmel. We got a photo of some of them as they turned up with their families to wish them well on their first day here.
Korimako and Weka Classes have enjoyed making Slime as part of their Science Focus Topic this term. This experiment showed the children how Scientific concepts such as “reaction” and “state of matter” result when different substances are mixed together.
The school Cross Country Competition was a very successful event with all the children taking part and doing their very best. We saw some great running performances, and congratulate the individual winners. This year’s winning house was St Mary MacKillop.
