PTA Colour Run and Dance – Friday 24th March 2023
We entered four teams into the annual 'Top Schools' Competition hosted by the Rotary Club and held at Churchill Park School. The children had a fun sports day taking part in a number of fun events including a slippery slide, gumboot throw, mine field, ski run, sponge fun, newspaper delivery complete with sleds, and the wobbly wheels waggons. Our congratulations to them and to all children who took part in the events for their determination and efforts. Thanks to our Team Managers and to all parents who helped out where they could, making this a successful and enjoyable day for the 'Eastern Bays' children.
The children were very excited to be dressed in green to celebrate this Saints day. They loved participating in the activities such as a potato race and a ceili in the hall at lunchtime.
The junior children had a fantastic time taking part in their house sports day and were very excited to be able to participate in a variety of activities which included running races, 3-legged race, beam bag throwing, duck n spatula race and an Obstacle Course.
As part of the Christmas festivities, the Junior School Celebrated the Feast of St Nicholas by taking part in the Sinterklaas tradition. According to the tradition, good children are given a small gift by St Nicholas on 6th December which is placed in a shoe or sock that is left out the previous night. The Junior School children have enjoyed learning about other Christmas traditions, and were very excited to open their shoe/sock when they arrived at school in the morning to see what surprises were inside!
The hall was transformed with some beautiful glittering lights on the stage while Pukeko's families waited in anticipation to see them show case their performance. The junior children of Pukeko class dressed in some amazing costumes and done such a marvelous job with reenacting all of their nativity play parts well on stage to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season.
The senior children had great fun taking part in the senior house sports day. They displayed great team spirit and it was great to see their values supporting one another as a "Mt Carmel kid".
'Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori - Happy Matariki! To celebrate our newest Public Holiday, the children enjoyed a range of activities, including Kite Making, Weaving and Poi making. Special thanks to Te Puna Manaakitanga, our school Whanau support group, who spent time with each class helping the children create their own Taonga - a lasting piece to commemorate this special occasion.
It has been a wonderful book week despite the weather - there were some fantastic costumes from children and staff.
