All Saints Dress up Day

The first days in November mark two special feast days in the Catholic Church; the feast of All Saints on November 1 and the feast of All Souls on November 2.  To give our Mt Carmel students the opportunity to celebrate All Saints Day, the children participated in a dress up day.  The children learnt more about our many wonderful heavenly friends and got to choose a saint that appealed to them to dress up as that saint for the day.

Cross Country 2023

Our annual School Cross Country was held on Tuesday in “changeable” weather conditions. We had a great turn out of spectators and supporters on the side lines cheering the runners to the finish line. Well done to everyone who took part and to the winning runners.

Zoo Trip Year 5 & Year 6

On Wednesday, Tui and Kiwi hub visited the Zoo. Despite the rainy forecast, the children got to see a lot of the animals in their enclosures.

Here's what some of the children had to say what they enjoyed most about the zoo.

Seeing the red pandas with a keeper talk.

Going inside the tropical dome as it was nice and warm.

Seeing the pregnant tiger and seeing it come past the glass.

Meerkats, otters as they glided through the water.

Rhinos, Serval, Captain the cockatoo the kiwi and keeper talk about the kiwis.

Zoo educators teaching us about the lions and giraffe behaviour and physical adaptations.

Saw the orangutans and siamangs and cheetahs up really close as we were the only ones in the zoo.

Also hearing the siamangs calling that we could hear all over the zoo.

The kea were very playful.

Rippa Rugby

Rippa Rugby is the new game for young rugby players.  We were very lucky to have Sean from College Rifles visit us last week. He ran some sessions for the whole school to experience Rippa Rugby to give all kids a chance to participate in our national game with ball-handling and running skills.  Rippa Rugby is a very safe, non-contact, easy-to-play game for both boys and girls alike.  Best of all it’s fun and exciting for all involved.

Fire Truck Visit

What a fantastic experience for our children to be visited by two Fire trucks on Tuesday afternoon to school.  The children excitedly gathered around to gain knowledge of how they needed to stay fire safe and escape from a burning building. Learning to use the best safety practice techniques for lifelong behaviors with fire.  Today, we had put it to the test with a practice fire drill.
