2025 Gardening for Good in Pukeko class
This week Pukeko class was able to see the fruit of their labour as they harvested the garden they planted in term 3 as part of the Caritas challenge
Mrs. MacClay and the children found strawberries, carrots, cabbages and kale as well as lettuce.
The ladies from Te Waiouna Puawai charity came to collect our vegetables so that they can be distributed to families in the areas for them to enjoy.
This charity grew out of the work of the sisters of Mercy in Glen Innes who support women and families in the Tamaki community. The volunteers said that the vegetables will be given to families in need so that the children in GI can can enjoy healthy dinners

On 2nd September Mt Carmel opened our doors to a Science Expo. Parents, friends and family came to see the incredible learning the students had worked on over the term.
It was a lovely evening and a chance for the children to show off their work, explain their findings and also the steps they went through as part of the learning process.
2025 Winter field days
Winterfield sports is a chance for Mt Carmel school to compete against other local schools. Despite the inclement weather all sports went ahead this year. Mt Carmel entered teams in Football, Hockey and Netball. The children showed fantastic resilience in the bad weather and were really good sports. Thank you to all the parents that helped with transport.

2025 Emergency Services Day
On Thursday 21st August there was huge excitement at Mt Carmel as the children were treated to a visit from the Police Helicopter which landed on the lower field, sirens wailing !
The students listened to the talk from the police air support Eagle unit officer and were able to have a look inside the chopper. Afterwards, the local fire brigade arrived at school and gave the children a demonstration of their equipment. We also had on site the local police Constable Richard Tan and his colleague who allowed the children to see inside their patrol car.

2025 Emergency services day Dress-up
On Thursday 21st August Mt Carmel had a Mufti Day in support of the wonderful work our Emergency Service workers do. We donated all money collected to St John Ambulance Service who rely on fundraising and donations to top up their funding, enabling them to provide essential first response services in emergencies.
Children came to school wearing something relating to our emergency services - Police, Fire, Ambulance or Medical.
