The Board of Trustees will develop policies and practices that reflect NZ’s cultural diversity and the unique position of Maori culture. The Board will take all reasonable steps to ensure that instruction in Maori language and culture are provided for students who request it, by advising parents to make contact with Orakei Marae. The Board of Trustees will respond by examining staffing, costs, school resources, additional resources needed including community resources available. If unable to provide the BOT would recommend enrolment at another local school which could provide it.
The Board of Trustees has consulted with the School Community to develop the Strategic Plan for Mt Carmel School. It will show commitment to this partnership with the community through ongoing communication and involvement.
