The Mt Carmel PTA is a group of parent and teacher volunteers who are committed to fostering the educational, social and spiritual values of Mt
Carmel School.
The committee fulfils two major functions one as a Parents organisation within the school assisting the formation of friendships, and adding to the true Catholic values of the school by
welcoming new parents to our community. Secondly, we work with the teachers and parents to identify ways in which we can enrich the learning environment of the school and fundraise for purchases which will allow our students the greatest opportunities to grow and
develop.
Many parents are in paid work and there are ever more demands on our time, despite this the Mt Carmel PTA members continue to make themselves available to work for the benefit of our school
and it makes me extremely proud to be part of that team. I am also constantly amazed at the willingness of past PTA members and other parents in the school to get involved, help out, and support the PTA wherever they can. I believe this is evidence of the truly
unique spirit which exists at Mt Carmel and it is my wish that the PTA continue to foster this in our school community.
Each year we undertake a number of fundraising initiatives and organise many social events for families within our school community. The School Disco is a firm favourite with children
and parents, we also coordinate Coffee mornings, Parent Dinners, Movie afternoons and Trivia Nights. PTA members are often around school cooking sausage sizzles, helping at sports days and special events. These endeavours mean that the PTA over the years has
been able to provide funds, for amongst many other things, an Adventure playground, tile murals, and most recently, staging for our school hall.
During my time on the PTA I have gained a much greater insight into the fantastic work done by our dedicated professional Teaching team, our wonderful support staff, our Board of Trustees,
and have also realised what a great group of children make up our school.
Joining the PTA is a great way to really feel part of the school, and make some lifelong friends. We hold regular meetings and welcome all parents who would like to join the
committee.
